I have a client that requires users who want to look at portions of their site to be of a required age before being able to access the content.  The client suggested that a user to the site just enter their birthdate on a splash page and if they are 21 or older, they can view the rest of the site (the client is a winery in the US and law prohits users under 21 to view certain content).  I suggested this wasn't a very good solution in that anyone with a bookmark to a certain page, or clicked on a link from a search engine that didn't go to the splash page first would circumvent entering in their birthdate.

I suggested that we force users to register to the site before being able to see the content that is age restricted.  I thought about adding a field in the Profile that asks for this information, and then the admin could grant or deny access based on this.

The reason for my posting is that while DNN 4.3.2 allows me to define a new field, it doesn't seem to want to display the field title (which I've named Birthdate), nor does it display the default value that I defined for the field (2006-07-17 so people would know what format to input the date. This can be viewed at http://www.commercetechnologyinternational.com and click on the Register button).  It also would have been nice to have a proper date type field to select from.  Ultimately I would also like to automate the process of granting access to the site by having the age calculated and if 21 or over, authorize the user.

Can anyone direct me to how I might be able to accomplish this using the existing framework, or should I customize the login control to do this.

Thank you for any direction you can offer me.
