Don,
it is the line above in web.config:
< htmlEditor defaultProvider="CKHtmlEditorProvider" >

Thanks for the tip about 'refreshing' the permissions.  I tried Root and after that had no effect I tried traversing down the chain.

The behavior remains.  The windows paints and shows no items but the page and item count says "Page 1 of 2. Items 1 to 100 of 101"

Sebastian,

I don't see that line in the Web.Config.  Where should it appear?

Thanks again!

It finally occurred to my empty and shiny head to look at the event log and discovered three errors when I attempted to use the Document Manager in the editor while logged in under the Host account. The summary column of the three is:

AbsoluteURL /DesktopModules/Admin/RadEditorProvider/DialogHandler.aspx Def

AbsoluteURL /DesktopModules/Admin/RadEditorProvider/DialogHandler.aspx Def

AbsoluteURL DefaultDataProvider DotNetNuke.Data.SqlDataProvider DotNetNuke

The information provided via the DNN_vw_EventLog View for the top 2 is:

InnerMessage:

Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

InnerStackTrace:

at DotNetNuke.Providers.RadEditorProvider.TelerikFileBrowserProvider.AddChildDirectoriesToList(DirectoryItem radDirectory)    at DotNetNuke.Providers.RadEditorProvider.TelerikFileBrowserProvider.GetDirectoryItemWithDNNPermissions(String path)    at DotNetNuke.Providers.RadEditorProvider.TelerikFileBrowserProvider.ResolveRootDirectoryAsTree(String path)

The inclusion of the GetDirectoryItemWithDNNPermissions gets close to the good tip from K Prouty but that tip didn’t seem to work.

Don,
I would switch to CKEditor to avoid this issue.
