I'm new to multiple language and content localization... however, we are experiencing an oddity with how this is working and it seems to be broken (or it's a misunderstanding).

I have a site, I want three languages...

Under the language option, I have three enabled ... English-Canada, French-Canada, Indonesian-Indonesia. I have all three "Enabled"... with "Enable Browser Language Detection = OFF, Users May Choose Interface Language = ON, Allow Content Localization = ON... but with the Button underneath that for "Enable Localized Content" displaying (Meaning, I did not click it yet to localize content)...

When I go to the website front page, I get English and I get the option to switch between the three languages...

Website default should be the english-canada as the default (user selects other language)...

I have four site aliases setup:

www.mainsite.com  (eng Canada)(Primary)

www.mainsite.com/en-ca/ (eng Canada) (Primary)

www.mainsite.com/en-fr/ (french Canada) (Primary)

www.mainsite.com/id-id/ (Indonesia/Indonesia) (Primary)

THE PROBLEM is that I want to be able to let users 'switch' between those three languages and each language, have that language displayed for all menus and content (yes, we know we have to translate it all).

As soon as I click the Button for "Enable Localized Content" in Languages... it runs setting up the content for each language (takes 5mins) but then, there is no way for the end user to switch between languages... it is hidden in the interface. So basically, there is no way to switch for the end user... Also, I really need the content localization to help manage the different languages and make certain that I have the same experience for each language (just translated).

So basically, if I turn on localization/converting the content, the site won't let us switch language... as soon as I disable it, they can switch languages.

Maybe I am missing a key understand on how this works, but if anyone could shed some light, it would be appreciated.

Regards,

Chuck
