I have just acquired an old site using DNN. I have the back end details and can access it no problem.

I am trying to use the super user login via the site but it does nothing.

So I am wondering the following

1. How do I access the site or change the login so that it allows us in.
If their is a different login for portal users vs. admins if so how would I discover what the admin user login url is?
2. How do I discover what version the site is from the backend? I am hoping that I can track back to the documentation to figure things out.
3. What is the best way to get this site current? Is there a installation wizard that helps step through the various versions that we may be behind?

Any assistance would be helpful.

As you'll soon be able to tell, we're a passionate community and DNN is quite powerful.  In fact, you can get to know a ton more about DNN at the DNN Summit in February.

As for your questions, Clint is spot on with his response.  I'd like to add on to it though.

If you don't see a login explicitly exposed to you, you can usually add the following to the URL on any page of your site to get to the login.  If this doesn't work, it means that someone intentionally changed the configuration to block these URL's and the way you get to the login may be a bit more complicated to determine via the forums.

• http://example.com?ctl=login
• http://example.com/Login.aspx

You can also tell the version through the file system by looking at the Properties > Details of the DotNetNuke.dll file in the Bin folder of the site.  The database is a great way to not only tell the current version, but also the versions it's been over time.

You definitely want to get the site upgraded to ensure that it is as stable and secure as possible.  DNN has regular updates throughout the year and sometimes those updates include security patches.

Ok so I know the version from the Database 6.2.5 DNNCORP.CE last updated 11/2012.

But I can also access via the FTP.

But I am still unable to log in.

When I try to use the credentials

The page refreshes but appears to be throwing a 500 internal error.

When I request password retrieval
