I'm trying to install DNN 9 on a 1&1 server in the UK, and it's proving tricky!

Having finally got all the files where I want them, I browse to the server and I get the standard DNN "Install" page. This would be fine, but 1&1 don't give my db user sufficient privilege to do the install.

So I thought "Ahah - what if I copy my db from a running DNN website and then edit the site afterwards?" I've restored a db backup, everything now looks OK in that I don't get any errors, but I'm still getting to the install page and not running the website as I expected.

Can I do this? How do I make it skip the install?

Thanks for any help

Ade

Further info:

In its "default" state, it attempts to use the Install Wizard, and produces the message:

ERROR: Your database user does not have sufficient permissions (dbo) to install

I found the line

add key="UseInstallWizard" value="true"

in web.config, set it false, and now it goes straight into the installation, but the first couple of lines of output say this:

Checking file and folder permissions Success
Installing version: 08.00.04
Executing script DotNetNuke,Data.SqlDataProvider Error!

... could not find stored procedure ...UpdateDatabaseVersionAndName

My first question is why is it installing 08.00.04 when I downloaded the installation for 9.2.2.178??
My second question is, does it really have a database access rights problem or not??

If I look in my database, UpdateDatabaseVersionAndName is present. However, what is puzzling me is the schema.

I can't use full SSManagementStudio/QueryAnalyzer with this 1and1 database, only "myLittleAdmin". I *think* that 1and1 have created a schema with the database name (dbnnnnnnnnn) and a dbo user with the name dbonnnnnnnnn. The first line of UpdateDatabaseVersionAndName references the dbo schema. Could that be the problem?

Has anyone else successfully used 1and1 for a DNN installation?

Any help gratefully received

Ade

PS The InstallVersion key in web.config *is* "09.02.02"
