Ya it's a shame DNN didn't get the "final release" quite final. I wouldn't recompile DNN. Do that and you're basically on your own.

Hi Jason,

I hear what your saying, and a recompile sounds ugly. Its only a matter of time that im going to run into this problem with my other portal as they are both heavily based on content with video files etc. Its a real bummer as the filemanger is so handy, and the DNN portal is truley a great pieice of software, however this restriction is really annoying.

Cheers, Jay

Unfortunately, this highlights one of the problems inherent in almost all software.  If you are not a developer, then there is no easy way to pick and choose which fixes get added to your application.  You either take all the fixes included in the next release or live with the limits of your existing release.  That doesn't change whether you are talking about closed source or open source software.  The one benefit is that even if you are not comfortable re-compiling DotNetNuke, it should be easy enough to find a developer who can do the job for you.

Hi Jbrinkman,

Thanks for your response i understand what you are saying. My comments were referring to repeatedly offering paid support and not even getting a single answer on the question. I think part of my problem was that it was during the holiday period as some of these questions are now getting responses. Having said this I still have the problem, so if anyone would like to chat about recompiling my DNN installations then please feel free to contact me.

Regards, Jay
