Thanks for that :)

Sadly it didn't work. I followed the steps through step 10, and started the install as in step 11. All seemed well until I got the following error:

=======================================================================

00:02:19.140 -   Error: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

I am getting the same error with the 4.3.3 starter kit.

I have have been successful with 4.0.3 and 4.3.3

I had the same problem and have seemed to fix it.  I believe I created it by unzipping one package over another (i.e. Install over Source.)  After doing so any non-core module referencing DNN controls hit his error.

Solution, delete ALL files/folders, then unzip the package again (going through the DB steps to save or replace of course.)

Hope this helps.

I also get the same error installing 4.3. I've adjusted all the config as recommended - like giving FULL CONTROL permissions to ASPNET and NETWORK SERVICE accounts. Only difference is that I make a connection to the SQL Express database using a connection string. I get this THREAD ABORTED error just after it installs the last module. I can fudge a successful install by pointing to a new database and running the install again - but get a similar error when I run the portal.

Any ideas?

Tony.

Hmmm....

Even if the 4.3.3 starter kit is not a POS, and we've simply got something wrong which isn't documented, we've sure as heck broken the forum module.

I guess that you get what you pay for.  Sigh

Strange how the format of this thread suddenly fixed itself.

I do now however declare myself as a disbeliever.

I have better things to do than get involved with this religion.

Especially as it seems to have no solution to the original problem.
