I verified that I am only using http in the address.  I also only have one entry in the alias table and it looks like

1    0    localhost/dnnoptimasolutions

Still no luck?

Maybe your local IIS configuration is setup to force traffic to the SSL port?

No luck.  I am using a xp pro computer and have never had ssl setup on this iis?

Is there by any chance anything / anywhere I can should look in the DNN database that would direct me to a https page?

Something is re-directing you to SSL.  Try looking in your default.aspx file.

Also, does the production site re-direct you to SSL?

Maybe they are doing it in javascript like I outlined here:

You can also try changing the first portal alias to something different then it is currently set at and see if it goes there.
