Hi,

I created a site using the 4.3.3 Starter kit. Everything works fine in vs2005.
I just published (precompiled) and some admin tabs are producing a fatal error (see below).

Any help would be appreciated.

Some Tabs that are giving me the errors are:
Admin -> User Accounts
Admin -> Log Viewer

An error has occurred.
DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.PageLoadException: Value cannot be null. Parameter name: format ---> System.ArgumentNullException: Value cannot be null. Parameter name: format at System.String.Format(IFormatProvider provider, String format, Object[] args) at DotNetNuke.UI.WebControls.PagingControl.CreateChildControls() at System.Web.UI.Control.EnsureChildControls() at System.Web.UI.Control.PreRenderRecursiveInternal() at System.Web.UI.Control.PreRenderRecursiveInternal() at System.Web.UI.Control.PreRenderRecursiveInternal() at System.Web.UI.Control.PreRenderRecursiveInternal() at System.Web.UI.Control.PreRenderRecursiveInternal() at System.Web.UI.Control.PreRenderRecursiveInternal() at System.Web.UI.Control.PreRenderRecursiveInternal() at System.Web.UI.Control.PreRenderRecursiveInternal() at System.Web.UI.Control.PreRenderRecursiveInternal() at System.Web.UI.Control.PreRenderRecursiveInternal() at System.Web.UI.Control.PreRenderRecursiveInternal() at System.Web.UI.Page.ProcessRequestMain(Boolean includeStagesBeforeAsyncPoint, Boolean includeStagesAfterAsyncPoint) --- End of inner exception stack trace ---

I have had issues with precompiled sites in teh past.  See the following post.

http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/ForumsDotNetNuke/tabid/795/forumid/80/threadid/27731/scope/posts/Default.aspx

I have not tried 4.3.3 yet so not sure if this has been corrected.

At this time "publishing" the DNN site so it is precompiled has not been tested.  At this time the install package (non source) does include the .vb files  so that DNN can be installed on a server and take advantage of the new "dynamic compile" capabilities of ASP.Net 2.0.  I do know that options are being looked at to see what the best way is to have have a precompiled / non-dynamic compiled version of DNN work.

Hi,

Thank for your quick responses. It seems that DNN 4.3.3 works fine as a precompiled site except the pager control.
I set this control to visible=false and everything else is working just fine.

With regard to deploying the vb source files I am worried about someone getting to the sources and changing things which I do not want in a user environment. Has anyone documented which vb files need to be deployed and which should not with regard to security etc?

I will try to debug the issue with the pager control, but am working on a release this week and have to get it out.

Thx
J.

The install package for 4.3.3 include all the files, including .vb file that need to be installed for a dynamic DNN site.
