When I set up several portals in one installation, at SMTP SETTINGS under host, I feel confused as each individual portal needs a smtp server to send out emails. How should I feel these fields? Thanks!

HI, I hope that this will help you.

Login to your portal as "host', go to host sittings, Advanced sittings - then SMPT sittings then fill the following:

SMTP Server: mail.domain.com
SMTP Authentication: Choose Anonymous.
SMTP Username: the same user name to login your email (ex: admin@domain.com )
SMTP Password: the same password of your email ( ex: password)

But be sure to change the admin email:
go to admin - user accounts - admin - (change the email to: admin@domain.com)

If you have many portals, i think you have to login to all portals and do the same.

I hope that helpt you.

Mike,

I am having the same problem.  I have been on the phone with godaddy support and smptout.secureserver.net is correct.  However, I'm getting the following error message:

InnerException: Mailbox name not allowed. The server response was: Sorry, that domain isn't in my list of allowed rcpthosts.

Godaddy support was no help.  I don't know if its something on the godaddy side or the DNN side.  I'm very frustrated because my site administration will really be handicapped if I can't utilize the modules or functions that require mail to go out such as the feedback form, registrations, and newsletters.

Does ANYONE know anything about how I can get this to work?

Success!

Everytime I call godaddy, I get a different answer to my questions.  However, I got a hold of a good rep this afternoon and she helped me resolve the problem.

in the host settings, here are the configurations you use.

SMTP Server:  smtpout.secureserver.net

SMTP Authentication:  CHOOSE BASIC. ..... anonymous will not work

SMTP Username:  your godaddy email account (if you haven't set one up, you probably should) ex. admin@mysite.com

SMTP Password:  your email password.

Now, it works like a charm!

Good luck!
