I have just installed a new installation of 4.3.3. However before I installed, I modified the dotnetnuke.install.config file so that I can create a customised installation and entered my usual 6 character superuser account password and changed the default host account name to my normal account name.

Problem is now that I cannot login with my superuser password. I think it is because 4.3.3 now has 7 characters as default for passwords and I entered 6. Any ideas what my password is now ??? I tried my 6 character one, i tried the default of dnnhost but no luck.

Any ideas what it might have defaulted.

Did you modify the web.config file as well which has setting for 7 characters in password. ? open in notepad and a CTRL F - search for password and you'll find it's set to 7.

See if that helps.

No, that is the issue......   The password length was set to 7 but I changed the dotnetnuke.install.config file to a password length of 6 and didn't change the web.config and then installed.

The result is that the installation ran fine but no I cannot login. I have subsequently changed the web.config minpassword length from 7 to 6 as you mentioned but this still doesn't let me log in.

The question is what happened to the password during installation, will it have failed the validation in the web.config during installation and if so will it have set a default, who knows ????
