I am trying to use the Rich Text Editor to link to a pdf.  I am getting the following error on one particular file:

A critical error has occurred. Maximum required length exceeded’

The file is 11 Mb... triple the size of any other files I am successfully uploading.

Is there anything I can do to allow a file of this size to upload successfully?  I tried just putting the file in the correct folder on the server, but it doesn't show up in the list in the Rich Text Editor when I try and select a file throught the software.

If you place a file directly in your folder on the server, you'll have to go into the File Manageer and choose the "Synchronize Folder" option for it to show up when you're using any of the modules.

To change the maximum file size for uploads, edit this section in your web.config file (as you can see, the default is 8MB, which is why you got the length exceeded error):

<!-- allow large file uploads -->
<
httpRuntime useFullyQualifiedRedirectUrl="true" maxRequestLength="8192" requestLengthDiskThreshold="8192"/>
