I am modifying a client's site who uses DotNetNuke.  They want to add a blog they already have in Blogger.com

Can I embed the blogger code in one of their dotnetnuke pages?  Or should I create a whole separate HTML page that would have the blogger part in it?  They would prefer for it to be on the home page which is already set up in DotNetNuke.  Thanks in advance!

Susan

Wow! no replies!

You have a couple options:

1) Use an iFrame to display the blogger site (easy, not ideal)
2) Publish the Blogger feed to the DNN site. Since blogger uses an Atom feed, not RSS, I use Feedburner to convert the Atom feed to RSS (it's free).

If you do that, you have a couple more options.

A) Use the news module in DNN to publish the feedburner feed (You can see an example at www.mpolino.com)
B) Use feedburner to convert it to HTML and use the Text/HTML module to publish the feel (It's a small piece of Javascript and you can see an example at www.dynamicaccounting.net)

I find that option A gives me more control over the layout but it can be a bit flaky and option B is rock solid but harder to get just the way I want.

A few things to be aware of on the blogger side, you need to turn on site feeds. If you publish a full feed, Blogger will occasionally hiccup and go back to a partial feed, despite the setttings. To fix this, change it to a partial feed, republish the blog, change it back to a full feed and republish the blog.

Hi Mark
I was trying to do a similar thing, and followed your advice to go through Feedburner and the default DNN news feed.  My problem, however, seems more pedantic -- what should I use as the news feed Style Sheet?  Is it even css?
Thanks
Tim

I should have mentioned that. It's an XSL (XML Style Sheet) file. I think DNN has one called RSS2_0.XSL or something like that included in the installation. I googled around on the net to figure out how to limit the number of posts displayed. Mine is currently limited to 8. You can email me at mark at mpolino.com and I'll send you a copy of mine. I don't think I can upload here.

I havent tried it yet... but the blogger site says new version is out (beta?) and it supports RSS.

Should remove that translation step?
