I am working with my first DotNetNuke Forum Module configuration (rev 3.20.08).  I have the Forum Module working so that registered users can post New Threads and post Replies.  So far so good.  I would also like to allow registered users to Edit their own posts, like the Forums section allows here on this site.  How is Edit functionality triggered?  Any help would be much appreciated.

[Later the same day...]

I downloaded the Forum Module documentation, and on page 58 of the 3.20.01 Getting Started docs, it clearly lists a section for Editing a Post.  From those docs it seems there is no special setting to enable the Edit link/button.  If the user has the right to post a New Thread, they should also have the right to Edit the thread.  Is that correct?  For some reason, my installation will allow New Threads, Reply and even Quote, but the Edit button is missing, except if the Admin/Host is logged in.  Is anyone else missing the Edit button? (or know how to restore it?)

If a problem can be solved, there's no use worrying about it.
If it can't be solved, worrying will do no good.

There is one setting that needs to be enabled for a Registered User to be able to Edit their own posts.  The setting is deeply nested and not accurately labeled by its Help/Tooltip (in Forum Module 3.20.08 at least).  Here is how it is done, from the Forum Module menu:

Forum Administration > Forum Users
(click the Edit/Pencil icon next to the user you want to give permission to Edit their own posts)
Admin Settings > Is Trusted? (enable)

(in FM 3.20.08) The "Is Trusted?" Help/Tooltip reads: "If checked, the user's posts will not be moderated" when it might also read: "... and the user may Edit their own posts."

Enable "Is Trusted?" for each user you wish to give the ability to Edit their own posts.  It does not appear there is a global way to allow all Forum Users to Edit their posts (in FM 3.20.08 at least).
