Yes!!!

I think in my case the detail was the permission to the ASPNET user, and creating the virual directory to point to the web site folder in the wwwroot.

In the step where it says to extract the files to your directory I used the starter kit and created a new web site under VWD2005 Express and CTRL-F5 to build it then had the virtual directory point to that. The only way I was able to make it work was using the localhost (IIS). I couldn't make it work with the FileSystem option.

You then access the virtual directory and the first time it will install DotNetNuke.

The other problem I encountered was that the install died half way thru with a message that the thread was being aborted. I found in another post here.

Same problem here. My web.config lines are valid:

    <add
      name="SiteSqlServer"
      connectionString="Server=NOVASERVER\SQLEXPRESS;Database=dnn;uid=XXXX;pwd=XXXX;"
      providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />
  </connectionStrings>
  <appSettings>
    <add key="SiteSqlServer" value="Server=NOVASERVER\SQLEXPRESS;Database=dnn;uid=XXXX;pwd=XXXX;"/>

I also want to echo the prior comments about the documentation. I think it's a joke and utterly unhelpful.
