Thought the DNN community might like to know about an extremely high profile site based on DNN.

The Australian Department of Defence is using DNN as the core of its "materiel acquisition management" (and that's not a spelling error - materiel is how they spell it for some reason). In other words, DNN is being used to manage the acquisition of all hardware for the entire Australian military. Needless to say it is classified and not open to the public (and offers a handsome jail sentence should you try to get in).

I was in Canberra last week doing some datawarehouse work and I needed to cross reference a result against the source data, so someone pulled up their system, and lo and behold, there is DNN chugging away. There is a custom written project management module involved.

The total amount of money that flows through this system is in the order of billions of dollars and involves the acquisition of all military hardware (planes, tanks, submarines, etc). I would surmise that there is more money flowing through this DNN instance than any other (of course I'm happy to be proved wrong.)

Anyway, thought it was worth mentioning

Cheers Manning

thats pretty cool but honestly how often does Australia get into war that it needs a department of defense.  It seems like the place to be, nothing bad ever happens there, its liek th country everyone likes.  Here in the US thats gotta be the one spot everyone wants to go on vacation to.  As far as high profile sites go I work at the world headquarters for SUBWAY sandwish shops and we use dnn for internal intranet sites.
