I am having the same problem.  It's weird, is there some setting needed to be able to add Events?  For example, on one page I have both announcements and events modules.  The events when I mouse over the top left part of the module, the first option which should be add event, is import content.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks!

OK, I think I figured this out, you need to go into the settings of the Events module and add a start and end date to the module.  This seemed to work for me.

No luck here either. Tried the start and end dates - nothing.
