I'm posting this out of desperation, it seems no ones answering my posts at the mo which is a little frustrating. (would like to know why)

Any hoo, I have this problem when I click to edit text and when I go to the Newletters page I get this message:
A critical error has occurred. Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

When I click the edit text link again I can edit successfully but its very worrying

I'm a little green with .net but would appreciate some help, I was wondering if i should do something withe the web.config file in the custom errors section should I set that to True to find more info on what it is?

The site is DNN3, I have it running locally on my PC (with SQL 2005 express) as well as shared hosting (with MSSQL)

Please help

While waiting for the above post to go up I worked out the problem which was that the English-GB language pack wasn't installed properly, I managed to work this out from the Log Viewer in the Admin section. I found that setting everything to USA language it fixed it. I am now having problems getting the UK language pack to work but at least I nail it down.

I installed the UK language pack from this Community/languages of this website

Hope this might be of some use to others

Hi abbie,

Have the same problem with Text/HTML module. After switch to US-English works everything fine.

Do you know already what’s wrong on your language pack?

Hi jandur

I dunno, just did it the dub way and uploaded a language pack, But the weird thing is the 1 version of the same site on my local PC and one of my shared hosting account, when I make the one on shared hosting UK English only it errors I had to start with but when I switch it to US it works fine, with my local one Iv switched it to UK -English and that works fine. I don't really know whats going on. Iv made a UK-English language pack with another dnn site I have if anyone needs one. So in short I cant make the live site use UK english and I really need to as one day it make use a shopping facility and will be using £ as its a UK site.

I haven't got an answer but I've got the same problem - I've got 'English - Australia' installed (using the pack that came with the DNN install) and I get this bizarre message regularly.

Well done on tracing it to the language pack... does anyone have a fix?
