I must be confused.  I set up DNN on one of my test servers, and everything seemed to go ok, i.e. no errors, I am able to log in and move things around and create users and such.

What I'm not getting is why the modules that seem to be included in the site (c:\whatever\DNN|DesktopModules) aren't available in the drop down module lists (ex. gallery, announcements, dashboard, etc.).

I tried downloading the installer package for gallery and uploading it while logged in as host, but it didn't do anything. By this I mean the screen refreshed and thats it. No installer messages one way or the other, just back to the modules screen.

I've modified the permissions of the folders for that entire site to allow full control to the asp user, but that didn't help.

Anybody know what I did or didn't do?

  • which DNN version are you using?
  • if you use DNN 4, are both database connection strings in your web.config look the same?

Hi,

I'm having the same problem as described earlier. I'm using DNN 4.3.4 and here's my connection strings from web.config

<connectionStrings>

<add name="SiteSqlServer" connectionString="Server=?????;Database=wi_forum;uid=user;pwd=pass" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />

</connectionStrings>

<appSettings>

<add key="SiteSqlServer" value="Server=?????;Database=wi_forum;uid=user;pwd=pass" />

Everything was working correctly until we changed database. I only have 5 modules left: Account Login, Banners, Search Input, Search Results and User Account

Thanks a lot,

Daniel

Hi

Everything is working correctly now. I verified with my DBA and the database hasn't been copied over the new location so there was a lot of data missing for the added modules.

Thanks,

Danile
