I am having a problem with external url based xml and xsl sources. I get the following error:
Error: XML/XSL is currently unavailable.
DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: Request for the permission of type System.Net.WebPermission, System, Version=1.0.5000.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089 failed. ---> System.Security.SecurityException: Request for the permission of type System.Net.WebPermission, System, Version=1.0.5000.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089 failed. at System.Security.CodeAccessSecurityEngine.CheckHelper(PermissionSet grantedSet, PermissionSet deniedSet, CodeAccessPermission demand, PermissionToken permToken) at System.Security.CodeAccessSecurityEngine.Check(PermissionToken permToken, CodeAccessPermission demand, StackCrawlMark& stackMark, Int32 checkFrames, Int32 unrestrictedOverride) at System.Security.CodeAccessSecurityEngine.Check(CodeAccessPermission cap, StackCrawlMark& stackMark) at System.Security.CodeAccessPermission.Demand() at System.Net.HttpRequestCreator.Create(Uri Uri) at System.Net.WebRequest.Create(Uri requestUri, Boolean useUriBase) at System.Net.WebRequest.Create(String requestUriString) at DotNetNuke.Common.Utilities.XmlUtils.GetXMLContent(String ContentUrl) at DotNetNuke.Modules.XML.XmlModule.Page_Load(Object sender, EventArgs e) --- End of inner exception stack trace ---

I am using 3.1 of the module and 3.2.2 of dotnetnuke. If i use local files all is fine and transform is ok.

Any help would be appreciated and I see others have listed this problem before.

Thanks Tim

It seams that you (or your web hoster) run your dnn installation in medium trust. For more informetion please check DotNetNuke Code Access Security.

DNN is so full of bugs, exceptions or whatever you want o call them, it is frustrating.  I got it installed by Godaddy.com  last week and I'm about to give up again!!! I used it for the first time about a year ago, but I aborted the operation after struggling to do the minimum thing, I'm at that point again.

By the way your comment doesn't help. Please refrain from responding if a clear solutions is not given.

It is obvious that Godaddy is running my installation in medium trust. I read DotNetNuke Code Access Security and all workarounds involve editing machine.config…..note very helpful in a shared hosting environment.

I understand your frustation, though i am not able to help you. Did you run into an exception? The XMl module should have warned you instead.

If your hoster sets up your space with medium trust, I am not able to help you. Contact your hoster and tell him your requirements. Even if he doesn't want to raise the trust level, he will be able to alow the access to  your required web ressources.
