I was wondering if there was a way to modify the properties of the document respository so that documents/files/content could be shared across portals in the same hosted space?

I have a project where we want to provide portals for individual users/organizations and then provide the ability of the organizations to provide documents to users by uploading in one place, and then these documents appear on all other portals through a Shared Documents space or something of such nature.  We would want all organizations to upload in an organization folder.  An ability to put an abstract of the uploaded file would be great as well.

Also, in relation to file date, sorting, filtering, searching, I noticed in a product DMX from Bring2Mind that it has some interesting features.  In addition I was wondering if there was a way to display files in date order based on a custom date entered, and not a date stamp?

Having the ability to store files in another DB is also of interest.  We want to provide integration with the Portal to a Windows application and/or PocketPC and want to be able to use Web Services for this purpose.  The ability to have files/links stored in another DB would ensure that they would be available in the event that the Portal was not available.

Thanks,
Brian Armstrong

Hmmm.. not sure if this works with repository as I haven't tried it with repository but here's what has worked for me for other modules for the similar scenario.

  • Let's assume you have portal A and B
  • You have set up a repository module under portal A and configured it
  • Then you log into portal B and add a new repository module on page.

Now here comes the trick. You need to find out the repository module ID for the portal A and manually update the module ID for the portal B to correspond to the module in portal A

So if you had created a repository module with ID 337 in the portal A, you would want to have module ID 337 for the repository in the portal B also.

I think the table you want to do the remapping in is TabModules table in the DB. Keep a backup at hand prior tampering the db manually. You never know.
