I am stumped.  I ran a clean install of version 4.3.4 Install code at http://www.tuckerfamily.info/portal

The install seemed to go fine.  All the modules and scripts seemed to execute (I made a pdf of the install log).  However, when you visit the page, the default content is missing and the links don't work.

Server: Win2K
Database: SQL 2000
IIS: v5 (IIS is set to NOT check that file exists, so I don't think it is an extension mapping issue.)

I have installed 3 times on my local machine with no problems.  I installed once on the server and had the same behaviour.  I deleted all the files and manually deleted all the tables/views/sps/ etc from the database.  I copied the files back out and ran the install again and I got the same results.

What should I do next?

I'm not too sure on this one for you.  I noticed nothing really works at all.  Did you setup the HTTP alias to your tuckerfamily URL?  HAve you tried installing it on the root of your URL to see how that works?  Just a few suggestions, I'm not sure what might be messed up there.

Thanks for the response. You might be onto something.  As far as I know, I did not setup an HTTP alias to the remote URL.  What does that mean?  I looked through the config and didn't find any domain specific references, and I didn't notice this step in any of the install guides.

Have you setup the legacy connection string (under the <appSettings> node of web.config) to match that used in the <connectionStrings> node?  Many of the core modules rely on this being set and will display empty content if it is missing or incorrect.

That's a good thought, but yes I was careful to make sure both config locations had the same connection string and of course that the SQL Express strings were commented out.

I confirmed with my web host several times that the proper permissions were applied to the portal directoy.

The only thing I can think of relates to the "Check that page exists option"  My web host had this option selected during setup but after installation, I had them uncheck it for common extensions (.aspx, .ashx, .asmx, .axd, .ascx).

Maybe there is another IIS config option that is non-default at my web host.  Hmm.
