I am new to DNN and I am getting the hang of skinning and have modified and made a few skins that work fine but I am not at all used to DNN in general.

On a skin that I made I want a flash movie to be on the homepage template and then when on any other page of the site, I want a random .jpg image in the spot where the flash was.  I accomplished this by inserting some plain old ASP code in the my_skin.ascx file see concept below.

<%
if on homepage then
  dislpay flash
else
  display random image
end if
%>

This works fine, but I am curious as to how someone more adept at DNN would do this.
