We are using DotNetNuke to create a website application to be used by a "financial institution" and so requires a very high grade of security. We have already implemented Server Side security using SSL but now we are looking into ways to make the user login part more secure. Our primary focus right now is to find/create a solution that allows the user to sign in using personal certificates (client side) for identification in the same way many banks do (at least in Europe, don't know about US/Asia)

Has anyone any experience using this togheter with DotNetNuke? Can anyone point me to documentation, modules etc. that would make this implementation easier? Does anyone know of other recommended solutions besides personal certificates that could enable the same level of security (we have looked into distributing "keypads" but that just is to much manual work in this case).

Any input would be much apprechiated as my attempts to find information related to this via google, asp.net, dotnetnuke.com etc has been almost fruitless.

Patrik Johansson

Fortis Belgium uses these http://www.vasco.com/products/product.html?product=52

It would be easy to adapt the login form to make use of them

Hi!

Thanks for the feedback. Our main focus however is to go with an "all digital" solution as personal certificates as there is quite a lot of work involved in distributing and adminestring physical devices like this, which is quite costly in the long run.

Did you ever have any luck implementing secure digital certificate authentication in your DNN-based portal?  We are doing something similar at my job, and I was curious how others had gone about extending the user security code to handle this.
