DNN 4.0.2 Forum_3.20.08_Install module.

I downloaded the Forum_3.20.08_Install.zip file to my computer. I then logged into my site as a host and under host selected module definitions.

I then selected upload new module.

I then selected the browse button and selected the  Forum_3.20.08_Install.zip on my computer and pressed the add button.

After the location appeared in the lower box I selected it and pressed the upload new file button.

after a couple of seconds the screen goes back to the module definitions screen. No install progress seems to happen?

The forum module is not shown in the module definitions box.

So no install has taken place, no error messages?

I have previously installed a repository module with no problems.

Could I have changed a setting somewhere? I am very new to this and it is a big learning curve.

The DNN was installed as a value application when I got my host package so I have no access to the web config file.

Hope you can help

John

OK I downloaded the install.zip file from a differant mirror and tryed again . This time it installed with no errors.

Now I have tryed to place the module on a new page and get the following error:

A critical error has occurred.
INSERT statement conflicted with COLUMN FOREIGN KEY constraint 'FK_dnn_ModuleSettings_dnn_Modules'. The conflict occurred in database 'DB_68508', table 'dnn_Modules', column 'ModuleID'. The statement has been terminated.

What does this meen? the module dosn't seem to work?

Any help on this?

Johno

It seems you have multiple controls assigned to the same key values in the Module Definition. This can differ depending on what DNN version you have installed. Please make sure you have completely removed all remenants of hte module, then install again.

Thanks for the reply, but what is a hte module? If you mean forum module OK .

Now as a beginer how do I remove the module once it is installed, in laymans terms?

Thanks

John

hte is just a typo meaning the. In this case the referred to the forum module.

As for uninstall, this is done from the module definitions area, click on the forum edit pencil, then click delete. Next, you may want to FTP to the site (or browse if local) and delete anything that remains in the Forum folder within DesktopModules. I would then try installing again the latest version if you are running any dnn 3.3.x or 4.3.x core versions.
