Hi.

I am the host of several portals which are administered by people with different level of IT skills. Some of them just barely knows how to open IE.
For that reason I want to be able to remove access to every little setting and element on the portal so that the admin doesn't get confused and doesn't do anything stupid by accident.

Some of the admins are a little higher skilled and sometimes require that they get a little more possibilities to administer their site. This means that I have to be able to give them access to the specific admin function the want.

I have tried installing Dave Buckner's TRTControlPanel but as far as I can see it still doesn't give me access to really micro manage which settings are available for the individual user.

Does anybody know of a way to do this with DNN? The best would be to just install a module but does a module like this exist? Or do I have to make the module or code the changes in the core of DNN myself?

Another option is to start from scratch and not even use DNN but code the whole site from the bottom up, but since DNN has been tested so thoroughly and all that, it would be best if my project could run on it.

Any suggestions?

Currently DotNetNuke GUI requires admins that are capable of reading help text and are capable of not touching the "Do not not touch"- big red button

You can solve this issue by writing custom modules wich you can expose to your admins. In these modules you could do any restrictions you like and you can do all the necessary fool proof checking

Thank you for the reply.

So what you are saying is that DNN is not that good for what I want from a CMS? And if I want to make it good I have to make each module by myself?
Seems to me like the whole idea about using an already finished CMS goes down the drain there...?

And what about the general settings? In top of all pages where an admin has access to editing something, there is that toolbar which I also want to get rid of.
Can you change that by a module as well?
