Hi there,

I currently handle this website http://www.canalchiclayo.net and I'm trying to port it to dotnetnuke. For what I see most of the features are already there by default but there are two that are driving me crazy.

First one, in xoops I can add an avatar at user level. So everyone has their own avatar upon registration. In dotnetnuke I see avatars are only managed at the forums :(

The second one, and i've searched all over the internet for this, is the chance to create personnal user profiles with their own picture and allowing people to rate these profiles. People can go through these profiles and see their pictures, post comments and rate them and the top ones are displayed on the main page. This is a link as an example profile:

http://www.canalchiclayo.net/perfiles/SiniestrO/

So the question is... is there anything like this in dotnetnuke? I'm sad to report that it's very hard to find FREE modules for dotnetnuke. At least everything I find is for $ which usually doesn't happen in other CMS :(

Maybe i'm just new to it, but googling didn't help much.

PScarlett, thanks for the link but still it doesnt help much to answer my questions.
I don't see any module doing what I'm looking for. I see a 'hot or not' module for every cms, I find it hard to believe there is not one for dotnetnuke.

Also, no way to add avatars to an user in the profile? not in the forum level.
No way to create a personal page for an user with some information they would like to share with others? Such as picture, things they like to do, etc...

There must be something that would make the personnal profile looks more appealing than what currently is.

It sounds to me as though you have not yet tried the Smart-Thinker modules? You can upload a photo per user and each user gets their own home page etc.
Try the trial version on your site and see if it suits your needs.

i went to download the smart-thinker modules, but i only see available for download and try the homepage module. I can't download/try the userinfo one or at least i can't find the link.

On the other hand, i checked the demo on the site and i can't see the 'hot or not' option anywhere.

I mean, i want people to be able to add their own picture, put some description to it and let other people rate that picture and write comments (like a hot or not module).

The top ones will be displayed on the main page.

I don't see this in smart-thinker. Also I was looking for free mods since xoops, phpnuke, postnuke and so on had these.
Nevertheless, for $30 that your mods cost, if it had this I would buy them but I don't see it.

Also, the userprofile doesn't seem to allow for an avatar but a personnal picture. Do you handle avatars and allow to display them easily anywhere? For instance right now i have xoops in www.unionlatina.org and people love the avatars in the 'users online' block. If you had 2 pictures: 1 avatar, 1 personnal pic. It would be great. The avatar is usually small, easy to display in user onlines block or forums. The picture is usually more of a personnal profile thing and too big for an avatar.
