Hi,

I created a simple site with DNN 4.3.3 on SQL Server Express.

I tried to deploy my site to another Windows XP Professional.

I installed .Net Framework 2.0 and SQL Server Express Edition to new XP.

And I copied all files from wwwroot/mysite folder to new XP.

I gave permissions to folder for ASPNET user.

I created virtule directory on IIS for .Net 2.0

And I browsed the site in Internet Explorer.

And I got the following error:

The Assembly Version ( [ASSEMBLYVERSION] ) does not match the Database Version ( [DATABASEVERSION] )

ERROR: Could not connect to database.

Invalid value for key 'attachdbfilename'.

Any idea will appreciated kindly.

Thanks

I am getting virtually the same error.

I think the DNN install doc is a joke. It is irresponsible server management to have end user applications on the server such as Visual Studio 2005, but regardless, the instructions are totally unhelpful for those of us who need to publish DNN to a remote web site because we don't have VS on the server.

I am already on my third unsuccessful install on a vanilla Windows Server 2003 Standard box because I just get to points where I scratch my head and can find no help on the forums or in the documentation. Sure, I could spend hours and hours figuring this out, but then what's the point if I am going to have to spend hours just to install simple tasks? Why can't someone bother to write a useable install doc? Why can't DNN allow the install docs to be on a wiki so that maybe people could collaborate on that?

The error message suggests that you need to look at the connection strings in your web.config file as they are not pointing to the database location on the new system (or perhaps the database was not copied across to the new system).

This is a fresh install and a brand new database. I have triple-checked everything. It's hard to mistype dnn (both the username and database name), and I have reset the password twice. This is a named instance of the databse named SQLEXPRESS, and as you can see from my connection string, I am correctly referencing it.

By the way, I noticed I posted my connection string in a different thread. Here is is:

 <add
      name="SiteSqlServer"
      connectionString="Server=NOVASERVER\SQLEXPRESS;Database=dnn;uid=XXXX;pwd=XXXX;"
      providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />
  </connectionStrings>
  <appSettings>
    <add key="SiteSqlServer" value="Server=NOVASERVER\SQLEXPRESS;Database=dnn;uid=XXXX;pwd=XXXX;"/>
