I want to sell a license for a software product using the store. Idealy I would want the store to process the request using paypal and then once returning to the website a license could be generated for download using the users information. If this is not possible then I would like to be notified and then generate the license manually and send it to the user.
Is this concept possible using the store. I am not sure where to get started on this so all feedback is welcome.

It's not possible to sell license keys with the current version of store.

I think that Catalook.net can sell software, my ecommerce module (and the current Store) can provide the paypal payment and notify you on a sale (but won't do the license key generation).

Paul.... I have been searching for exactly the same thing. I have contacted Catalook for an answer on using the zip password field to provide "serail numbers" as in theit documentatios they specify that it could be used for this purpose. I am waiting for a response, however I fear that some source modification will have to take place. I plan on doing this depending on the response I get from Catalook and I would gladly share it with the comunity.

However, for starters I am planning on fetching the serial number from a database of availabe serial numbers... the actual generation of the numbers will have to take place on the outside for the moment.

From what I can see, store modules (commercial or free) do not and will not have license generation functionalities as these type of functionalites are usually software vendor specific.

Your best bet would be to create an addition screen/s to the store module that provide such functionalies.   Make sure not  to change the module code which will help you in the long run in as fas as module upgrade is concerned.
