Recently upgraded from 4.0 to 4.3.4 and now I cannot create new portals. I fill out the information and hit "create portal". The screen refreshes with a red message above the fields that says "Error creating Portal". This is a new parent portal.

Where do I look to even begin trying to fix this ?

please have a look at this post: http://dotnetnuke.com/Community/Blogs/tabid/825/EntryID/1075/Default.aspx

you can easily run the listed script: log in into your portal as host, go to SQL in host menu and paste the text. check "run as script" and execute.

I thought that was going to be the trick. I logged in as host, pasted that script, executed it with script option and it flashed with no errors. But, I still get the same error. Any other thoughts ?

Well. Now it appears to be working with no additional changes. Is there some kind of cache clearing that needs to be added to the instructions ?

When it starts working, does the security section of the page disappear?  I'm having the same problem.  I ran the sql script then went in with Sql Server Manager and verified the SP was updated, though I still get the error (and the section of the page requiring Username, password, etc...).

I also suspect a cache, though I've restarted SQL, W3svc, cleared the brower cache and opened a new browser window with no change in behavior.
