It seems that something that is lacking from the entire DNN site is a feature list for each of the core modules - or is it that I just have not found it.

Does there exist a complete feature list for the Forum module?  I'm tyring to decide if DNN is the tool I want to use for a porta site, and it will hinge on the features available in the Forum.

Thanks!!!

No, there is not a feature list for the mods anywhere on the site. (I agree, this should happen)

I at least need to make one for the forum module, which I can do but I need to actually document all of them first (as it is something I have never done). Please ask any specific features here and this should help me start that process to post on the project page.

Thanks.

most teams try to give this information either on their project page (as UDT does) or in the team leads blog. Please note, that not all projects have been updated yet since they have been decoupled from the core framework.

Thanks for the reply.  Some of the features I'm hoping for are (these are all over the map and in no particualr order):

  1. Forum is visisble to everyone but only logged in users may contrinute
  2. Posts do not need to be previewed - they will appear immeadeatly
  3. Stats such as how many members, how many threads, how many posts a member has made, etc
  4. Moderator can edit or delete posts
  5. Assign members as moderators
  6. Send Private Messages (this is a big one - I see inyour blogs that it is something that is being worked on.  Is this still in beta, or is it stable and working?)
  7. Members can create a profile, including a photo
  8. Moderator can customize what items appear in profiles (State, City, Marital Status, Hobbies, etc)
  9. Moderator can customize the text that must be read prior to creating an account
  10. Spell checking (mostly for me!)
  11. Little face / emotion icons users can add to their posts
  12. Moderator can shut down the entire forum to put a freeze on new posts during upgrade
  13. Create private forums which can not be seen or used unless invited by the moderator.  Even members who are logged in will not even know it exists unless they are added to the invite list

I think that's about it.  Just about all of these features are fairly standard in other forums, and I sure that they have all been at least considered in your forum, but I'd like to know which ones are actually available and working.

One last question... is this forum that I am using right now the same forum that I could download and use?

Thanks!

Casey
