I have a few moderated forums that when they have no messages awaiting approval show count of -3 and -2.  Is there a way to reset these counts to 0 when there are no pending messages?  It's causing some confusion with my moderators.

it is o.k. that the PostsToModerate field is set to -1 if the last post to moderate is deleted. If you have difficulties to identify and moderate posts from members, the reason is, that there is a mismatch between the counter field in the dbo.Forum_Forums table and the number of posts to moderate in the dbo.Forum_Posts table.

In my case with only one moderated forum, it was easy to fix it. Here is the solution which worked fine for me:

• Count all records in the dbo.Forum_Posts table with a NULL value in the DateModerated field.
• Locate the record of the moderated forum in the dbo.Forum_Forums table and correct the counter field (PostsToModerate) approiately.

From my experience, it is best to make the changes with SQL Server Management Studio Express oder SQL Server Enterprise Manager.

If you have several moderated forums, you have to walk an "extra mile", because you have to evaluete the post - thread - forum relationship by means of the dbo.Forum_Threads table. I leave it to the more experienced users to build a SQL query for this ...
