Hi guys,

I am trying to build an online system, in which I am selling space to DNN portals.

My Main host install has a forum (ActiveModules), and some banners. I want to make it possible to all the sites,  to have their memebers subascribe to the server, when subscribing to each portal. This way I can use different forum on each site, and 1 main forum page containing all that is new in them...

1. How can I do that? Is the solution is maybe "child portals"? What do I get from making a portal a "child"?

2. How can I switch a portal from being "father" to "child", after it is already established as a "father"?

3. How can I backup an entire portal, including it's module and content?

4. How can I backup an entire host installation, including its modules and all it's portals?

Eden,

child portals are individual portals, that reside in a subdirectory of the parent portal; by default, parent and child portals do not share content. There might be 3rd party modules to realize this, please have a look at www.snowcovered.com

To backup a site, use the backup options of windows and sql server, to backup single portals, AFAIR there is a module, please have a look at snowcovered as well.
