I have a client that tried to self upgrade from 4.0.2 to 4.3.4. They did not set the web.config correctly and had 'dbo' as the databaseowner in the data provider instead of the appropriate username. The install errored and now when you navigate to the site you get this error message. I have searched the internet and have not found a solution to this that I like. Is there a fix other than to delete the database?

DotNetNuke Upgrade Error

The Assembly Version ( [ASSEMBLYVERSION] ) does not match the Database Version ( [DATABASEVERSION] )

ERROR: Could not connect to database.

Invalid object name 'dbo.PortalAlias'.

IIS 6.0

I have been able to at least bring the public (non-loged in) side of the site up by changing some of the database objects owner. This is not the method i would like to use and i still am unable to login to the site. When I get the login screen I am able to enter the username and password. However, when I hit login I get the following error.
A critical error has occurred.
Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
Does anyone know what database objects (tables and procedures) are hit for login?
