Hi

I have no idea how to get a call reopened in Gemini. So I'm posting it here.
If this is the wrong thing to do please let me know what the process is.

These two calls:

A UI issue:
DNNP-3893

An error trapping issue
DNNP-3921

...both appear to have been closed without fully looking into the issue in much depth in my opinion.

Could somebody with full access to Gemini take a look and see what they think? I think a third opinion is necessary.
If you agree with me can these call/s be reopened?

I've provided full comments on the issue itself in case the original issue logged wasn't clear enough..

Thanks

Alex

Alex,

3893 regards general UI design, where different opinions exist (I tend to yours, but I am not deciding).

3921 could not be reproduced, and as long as it only happened once to you, it cannot be excluded, that this was a coincidenting IIS issue.

Please note, that he DotNetNuke Core Team has limited resources, that needs to be focused by priority.

Thank you for your support.

Alex

Firstly - thanks for logging all the issues you find in Gemini.

With regard to these issues, I agree with Sebastian's comments.

There are some inconsistencies in the UI design, but UI is subjective.

With regard to the other error-trapping issue, I make two points:
  1. The issue is not reproducable and therefore is not fixable.
  2. The issue appears to be an error with IIS or the worker process.  It is not really feasible to have Dotnetnuke try and trap any of these errors (without enclosing every block of code with Try/Catch blocks in case there is an IIS crash).
If you can verify a reproducable procedure that causes the error in question then by all means reopen the issue.

Thanks Sebastian and Charles.

I see your points...

3893 - My overall point is basically the UI should be made a consistent as possible. I realise it's hard because everything is still under development but certainly effort is needed here. Of course I can understand if the team is stretched and something must give (know the feeling!).

I have now logged all the UI stuff under a proposed enhancement here:
DNNP-3962

Note I've extended it and changed it and hopefully it is a little more suitable for the Gemini forum.

3921 - The two URL's I gave when I initially logged the issue shows how you could trap the error in the Windows Application log just before IIS crashes (or am I wrong here?). Perhaps this could be vital for diagnosing when something in the scheduler crashes. My particular issue here was not important, but I wondered if this sort of error could be trapped to help in future diagnosis. Then again I could be way out - sorry. Care to comment on this again?

Cheers!

Alex
