The best way to handle this is to alter how attachments are handled.  The appropriate way is to move attachments to the core file manager.  This would aid in security as well as allow larger file uploads.  This is one of our goals.

Chris, thanks for the feedback.  Is it possible to provide any hints as to when a new version of the Forums module might be expected, with improved attachment handling either through the core file manager or some other method?

I'm trying to decide if I can buy enough time at work to wait for the fix, if I should consider 3rd party offerings for the time being, etc.  Thanks for any insight you can give!!
