Hi

A lot of the documentation that I have read suggests you rename the release.config to web.config when you first install DNN using Visual Web Developer, can anyone tell me why?

Thanks
Ed

Because you need a web.config to run the Application.

It is not automatically installed as web.config so that it doesn't write over any that might be there already on upgrades.

Thats odd because on the install I am using there is already a web.config file there even though it is a clean install in a new directory?!

Right, the _Install.zip file will have a web.config

the _Upgrade.zip file has a release.config that needs to be renamed to web.config (after backing up your old one).
