Dear dnn-fellows

Because there is nobody who can/would point me in a right direction, I'am obliged to setup a whole new site. I can't trust the upgrade procedure from 3.1.0 to 3.3.4 and then to 4.3.4.

Dear Gilbert - I did see this post, and was a little bit reluctant to answer.. becuase in truth I have never ever had a successful upgrade excepting when upgrading from 3.0.13 >> 3.11  and  3.3.0 >> 3.3.4  and 4.3.0 >> 4.3.4   not even between 4.0.2 to 4.3+.

I now do not upgrade any of my sites and I am sure there are many talented people around who say it's a breeze.. but for me, it has never worked and therefore I am not confident to spend weeks trying.

It is ok to consider attempting if you have only standard installations, but once you add third party modules, for me personally I have found it to be horrible.

I have spoken to another colleague who has update their site from DNN 2 >> DNN4 and upon talking with him about localiasation one day and he didn't have some of the tabs that I had in a clean install.

Is it good or bad? I don't know - I just say for me, it just is....and therefore I do clean installs and migrate information. The good thing about this is that the exporting and moving of data is getting easier than it used to be.

Dear Nina

Thanks for your answer and for your point of view.
For me it is clear now...
I'm going to setup a whole new installation.

Like I said the site runs now under a assembly version 03.03.04 and a database version 03.01.00.
And I let it runs until I've setup the new site.

I never tried upgrading sites who runs under 3.x... because there where so many troubles that I've seen in the forum posted by so many people.

I did upgrade successfully a few sites from 4.1.0 to 4.3.3 to 4.3.4.
And in a few weeks (how long... I don't know when?) I'am obliged to upgrade to the more stable version 4.3.5 (I think).

For my own sites, I'm going to upgrade every release... and check all the versions of the modules that I run.
I think also that the upgrade process after the release of 4.3.3 is more mature...

I think an upgrade process shall take me a lot of time and I'm afraid that not everything shall work... I shall have a lot of nightmares I think...

When you see that... Is it wise to try the upgrade to version 4.3.4?

Maybe this can help:
