Hi.  I'm new to dnn and I have made my first skin and container which work great.  I tried to make a second version of the container but with an image for the background but the background image doesn't show up.

When I look at the page source of the page using the new container I can see the problem.  The table cell that holds the content is using the background="images/someimage.gif" poperty but in the source is shows background="<%skinpath%>images/someimage.gif"

I made this container in html but you can see that the opening ASP <% is showing up as &lt; causing the skinpath to not be inserted.

has anyone seen this before, or know a fix?

Thanks!

I'd recommend trying to edit the ASCX file that gets created for the container, replace the &lt; with < that should work. If not, you could always try defining a CSS class on that object and put the CSS in your container.css file.

Weird, I opened up the ASCX file and everything is the way it should be except I forgot a quote in my html.  I fixed the quote and checked the rest of the html but I still get the same thing.

I guess I'll have to go the css route.  When I setup my css class can I still use a relative url to the image [url(images/image.gif)] or do I have to use url(/portals/0/.....)

thanks for your help.

Wow they actually moderate every single reply here.  That's got to be a lot of work.

Anyway, I got it working using CSS and I guess that's probably the correct way of doing things anyway so I'll keep using CSS in the future.

Thanks.

Wastedhalo

Check in your .ascx file it had to be:
<img alt="" title="" src="<%= SkinPath %>NameOfYourImage.gif" />
