Hi all

I'm completely lost on this one.

I'm using DNN3, I added a user and got this error message:

Error: User Accounts is currently unavailable.
DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. ---> System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at _ASP.Users_ascx.__DataBind__control19(Object sender, EventArgs e) at System.Web.UI.Control.OnDataBinding(EventArgs e) at System.Web.UI.Control.DataBind() at System.Web.UI.Control.DataBind() at System.Web.UI.Control.DataBind() at System.Web.UI.WebControls.DataGrid.CreateItem(Int32 itemIndex, Int32 dataSourceIndex, ListItemType itemType, Boolean dataBind, Object dataItem, DataGridColumn[] columns, TableRowCollection rows, PagedDataSource pagedDataSource) at System.Web.UI.WebControls.DataGrid.CreateControlHierarchy(Boolean useDataSource) at System.Web.UI.WebControls.BaseDataList.OnDataBinding(EventArgs e) at System.Web.UI.WebControls.BaseDataList.DataBind() at DotNetNuke.Modules.Admin.Users.UserAccounts.BindData(String SearchText, String SearchField) at DotNetNuke.Modules.Admin.Users.UserAccounts.Page_Load(Object sender, EventArgs e) --- End of inner exception stack trace ---

Now when I go into the users (not superuser) list it comes up with that error message, I can see the users when i go into Security Rolls but cant remove the users from the roll or so it tells me I then cant log in as them it says they don't exist, I can register if I log out and register, but that user gets put into the admin users role and cant delete them. I cant figure this out and I'm now getting really upset as my client wants to put stuff on the site and I cant figure out whats going on.

its seems the users are corrupt in someway and Ive no way of deleting them

Please someone help

many thanks

Hi

I had this on my site using the AD module, but the problem boiled down to the First Name and Last Name tables in the database being empty and the table itself not being set to allow null values.

If you are using VS Studio 2005 go to the database explorer find the user table and right click, go to properties then tick the boxes next to allow nulls for first name and last name.

No expert here, but have you tried deleting them from the database tables?  I've had to go thru the db directly, when DNN doesn't delete things from the user interface.

Thanks for replying

I don't have studio 2005 but I have SQL Server Express 2005 is it possible to use this to see the database? Sorry I'm a bit of a novice at this.

Thanks

abbie,

If you have SQL Server Management Studio Express Edition, you can open and manage your database using it.  If you didn't install it (SSMSEE), you can download it free from Microsoft.  I'm not real SQL savvy either, but the management studio is fairly friendly to use by folks like us.  Good luck.

Rick
