Hi, this is the first day of our new DNN intranet and it has had a lot of good feedback. However I have just tried to add a module and when I saved it I got the dreaded "Object reference not set to an instance of an object". I typed HTML into the (HTML bit of ) the editor which may not have been syntactically correct - could this be the cause? I am using DNN 4.3.4. Can anyone help me extract myself from the hole soonish?

Many Thanks.

I don't see why this would have caused this. Just delete the offending module and go again. If you can't get to the page to see it, then if you can find the module ID from the source and you can go into the DB and just delete the module from there.

Hi Bruce, thanks for the reply.  I initially tried sorting it by deleting only that announcement from the DB but that didn't fix things so I deleted the module and it's OK now. Its a bit disconcerting though - I'm glad I didn't have lots of announcements in the modulle. I moved from Rainbow to DNN because the former was too unstable - I'm hoping DNN is a better bet long term!

I had a similar problem with 4.3.4 with every module I tried to add in a new installation. My fix was to edit the web.config file. There is something in the module installation process that is still using the old connection string info in appSettings for SiteSqlServer. Both the <appSettings> string and the <connectionStrings> need to be set to the correct values.
