As DotNetNuke is a open source community, I am amazed when I download a Desktop Module from the site here and find that when I unzip the file downloaded, there isn't any source code there, just the compiled .dll's, images, .aspx pages etc.

Have I missed something somewhere, where did the source code go for the DNN desktop modules that are packaged with the DNN download?

Just to head off any questions, Yes, I downloaded the source code file, twice!

Cheers,
HBenton

Yeah this got me for awhile too.  They have changed the way things are listed on the sourceforge site.  If you go to the project page for the module you want click the download, you get sent to sourceforge.  There are two packages listed there take the source usually the second one listed.

The first one is for people who don't want to mess with the coding and the second has all the source.

Paul -

Thanks for the reply, however, I've downloaded the UDT from source forge and still haven't found the source code for this module.

I understand the difference between the install.zip file and the source.zip file, I have downloaded the source.zip file twice thinking maybe something, somewhere got messed up, but still no source code ...

Any thought!?!?!

HBenton

If you install from a source zip you'll see the relevant files exist in the module folder. This is because they're all contained in a .resources file, which is essentially a renamed zip file that contains the necessary files - this is to ensure that the folder structure is correctly maintained. If you want to work with the files, but don't want to install the module, simply rename the .resources file to .zip, and unzip it.
