We had a drive go bad so are trying to reinstall our DNN site on a new server. Bottom Line we get a "page cannot be displayed" error.

WINDOWS server 2003
SQL 2000
DNN 3.2

We first  created the DB and did a restore, created the site and copied all the web files into the directory.

We gave Network Service and ASPNET user acounts full control.

Whenever we tried to bring up the site we just got  "page cannot be displayed" .

After a while we thought we would try a different approach and just reinstall DNN and then change what
we need. Going through the installationinstructions we get "page cannot be displayed" there also.

Please advise.

Did you enable .NET in IIS (IIS Manager->Web Service Extensions)?  Normally ASP.NET is disabled by default.

Also, you should check to make sure that the website or virtual directory for DNN is set to ASP.NET 1.1 (right click web/virtual directory, select properties, pick "ASP.NET" tab).  If there's no ASP.NET tab, then you don't have to select an ASP.NET version, since .NET 2.0 isn't installed.

Thanks for the feedback.

Web Service Extensions was not set, it is now, and we still have a problem.

A quick FYI I learned looking into this. The sharepoint administration website in IIS must be started to configure Web Service Extensions.

We did go to our DNN site, right clicked All Task / configure server extensions 2002

Thi extened the server extensions to our DNN site. We can now get into the FrontPage Server Extensions 2002 - Site Administration. We have not changed any of the settings inside.

We do not have a ASP.NET tab in the properties.

If there are other suggestions, out there, please send them in.
