DNN 4.03, Sql Server 2005

When I run DNN on our development servers , pages take 40-60seconds if not longer to load. Not just the first time either, refreshing the same page also takes this long.

When my connection string connects to our not-local DB, running sql server 2000, it runs much faster.

I am not running any anti virus software on the development machine.

I also made a program that runs wget on the keepalive.aspx page every 10min, to keep the page from unloading and I still experience this issue.

All data on the local and remote db server is identical. DB logins also have the same permissions.

Any suggestions?
