I'm a newb to dotnetnuke, but i've done my fair share of hosing, db admin, etc. I can't seem to figure out how to set the proper connection string in MS SQL 2005 (not Express).

Help?

I've even tried using NUKEleus to help determine where the setup fails - it always fails at trying to create the database due to failed login (or bad string). I've tried the surface area config and using mixed mode auth and i can't seem to get it to log in and either use the database that I create nor create one for me.

Thanks for the help.

Eric

Use SQL authentication. (GREEN ONLY)

<connectionStrings>

<!-- Connection String for SQL Server 2005 Express
    <add
      name="SiteSqlServer"
      connectionString="Data Source=.\SQLExpress;Integrated Security=True;User Instance=True;AttachDBFilename=|DataDirectory|Database.mdf;"
      providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />  -->

    <!-- Connection String for SQL Server 2000/2005  -->
    <add name="SiteSqlServer" connectionString="Server=ServerName;Database=dbname;uid=UserId;pwd=Password;" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />

  </connectionStrings>
  <appSettings>
    <!-- Connection String for SQL Server 2005 Express - kept for backwards compatability - legacy modules
    <add key="SiteSqlServer" value="Data Source=.\SQLExpress;Integrated Security=True;User Instance=True;AttachDBFilename=|DataDirectory|Database.mdf;"/>  -->

    <!-- Connection String for SQL Server 2000/2005 - kept for backwards compatability - legacy modules  -->
    <add key="SiteSqlServer" value="Server=ServerName;Database=dbname;uid=UserId;pwd=Password;" />
