In IE there is a problem with the way carriage return is handled. It breaks the line only if the line is not empty. This makes it difficult for users to format their documents they way they expect, since it looks correct in the editor, the displayed result is not correct. Firefox works OK in this regard. Inspecting the source shows that IE uses
tags where Firefox uses
tags. Is there a way to make IE use
tags too?

Second, IE seems to handle the detection of URLS fine. If I enter www.google.com a link is created. Firefox however cannot seem to ever detect a link. Even if I eneter the full http://www.google.com it does not detect and create the tag for me. Is there a way to make this work in Firefox?

I have run into this exact problem. I have had to advise clients running on our portals to use Firefox only (not the worst thing to happen...), although a fix would be nice, for people who would like to use IE

The
issue can be fixed. in the folder \Providers\HtmlEditorproviders\FCKHtmlEditorProvider\Custom there is a file named fckconfig.js . Insode that file is a setting for FCKConfig.UseBROnCarriageReturn that you can set to true.

This does seem to make the URL detection WORSE in IE however.
