I wanted to get some advice on custmzing the HouseMenu for DotNetNuke. How do I change settings for the HouseMenu?

I have installed the HouseMenu skin object and have referenced it in a htm skin with [HOUSEMENU]. It appears fine on the website but I haven't been able to customize it. I tried creating a skin.xml file with the settings and saving this with my website skin as a  zip but this tends to wreck my site and I have to delete the skin files manually to be able to access my site again.

I can customize the HouseMenu if I add the module to a page but do not want to go this way as it makes more sense to me to have it as part of my whole website skin.

I'd really appreciate it if someone could point out how to change the settings and css styles when HouseMenu is included as a token on my site skin.

Nicky

P.S. I have tried searching for help on this for days so have had to post as a last resort; maybe I wasn't searching for the correct terms. I really like the whole dnn package and have no problem editing the sites. The menu is the only thing holding me back.

Hello,

I have created a free skin which uses the House Menu. You will find all of the code for using the skin.xml file and configuring and styling the HouseMenu. Simple Red Leaf Skin

Hope this helps you on your way, thanks,
Lee

Hi,

I had seen your page before but thought that I had to pay to subscribe, even to get the red leaf skin.

I registered and downloaded the skin this time and was able to take all the menu parts to put it into my own skin. It works very well and I can fully customize my site menu now.

Thanks a lot for your help as I was going round in circles for a day or too with this issue!

Nicky

My hasty first post about this issue really makes it look like English isn't my native language.
