Hello

I have DNN 4.0.3 installed on W2K3 Server with IIS 6. I have changed the port number to be 7087.  Install runs succesfully and configuration of localhost:7087/DotNetNuke functions fine.

If I want to see this site from from another machine I simply add another portal alias and call it svr2110:7087/DotNetNuke.  So far everything works fine.

I then assign a DSN value of http://dev.dnnsite.lyinc.com and add additional portal alias of dev.dnnsite.lyinc.com

Here the problem begins as I am not able to access the site using DNS value.

The portal seems to be taking the incoming communication and pushing it to the / or root of the server which it doesn't have access to.

Can someone please offer an advise on how they have set up their environment.  Thank you in advance to these that respond.

To do it without the /dotnetnuke folder and the alternate port you will need to make sure that you have configured an IIS site to point it's home directory to the actual directory that DNN is installed in, and use the default of port 80 on the IIS site.  Since you are on IIS6 Win2K3 it's easiest to just create a new website (not a virtual directory).

In DNS, that domain will need a host "A" record created for "Dev" that is assigned the same IP adddress that the IIS site from above is listening on.
