Hi,

Got the following error when installing the Store Module on DNN4.3.4/.net2/W2kServer :

ExceptionSystem.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Violation of UNIQUE KEY constraint 'IX_dnn_ModuleDefinitions'. Cannot insert duplicate key in object 'dnn_ModuleDefinitions'. The statement has been terminated. at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection.OnError(SqlException exception, Boolean breakConnection) at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlInternalConnection.OnError(SqlException exception, Boolean breakConnection) at System.Data.SqlClient.TdsParser.ThrowExceptionAndWarning(TdsParserStateObject stateObj) at System.Data.SqlClient.TdsParser.Run(RunBehavior runBehavior, SqlCommand cmdHandler, SqlDataReader dataStream, BulkCopySimpleResultSet bulkCopyHandler, TdsParserStateObject stateObj) at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlDataReader.ConsumeMetaData() at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlDataReader.get_MetaData() at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand.FinishExecuteReader(SqlDataReader ds, RunBehavior runBehavior, String resetOptionsString) at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand.RunExecuteReaderTds(CommandBehavior cmdBehavior, RunBehavior runBehavior, Boolean returnStream, Boolean async) at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand.RunExecuteReader(CommandBehavior cmdBehavior, RunBehavior runBehavior, Boolean returnStream, String method, DbAsyncResult result) at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand.RunExecuteReader(CommandBehavior cmdBehavior, RunBehavior runBehavior, Boolean returnStream, String method) at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand.ExecuteScalar() at Microsoft.ApplicationBlocks.Data.SqlHelper.ExecuteScalar(SqlConnection connection, CommandType commandType, String commandText, SqlParameter[] commandParameters) at Microsoft.ApplicationBlocks.Data.SqlHelper.ExecuteScalar(String connectionString, CommandType commandType, String commandText, SqlParameter[] commandParameters) at Microsoft.ApplicationBlocks.Data.SqlHelper.ExecuteScalar(String connectionString, String spName, Object[] parameterValues) at DotNetNuke.Data.SqlDataProvider.AddModuleDefinition(Int32 DesktopModuleId, String FriendlyName, Int32 DefaultCacheTime) at DotNetNuke.Modules.Admin.ResourceInstaller.PaDnnInstallerBase.RegisterModules(PaFolder Folder, ArrayList Modules, ArrayList Controls) at DotNetNuke.Modules.Admin.ResourceInstaller.PaDnnInstallerBase.Install(PaFolderCollection folders) at DotNetNuke.Modules.Admin.ResourceInstaller.PaInstaller.Install()

Anyone have any clues as to what's causing the problem?

Thanks in advance

Phil

Well, the error looks like you're trying to install the store module into a portal in which it already exists.

This should not be possible with the .DNN file included in the installation zip, however if you have manually configured some version numbers you could end up with this error.

The version of DNN you mention does already come with Store as a pre-installed module, have you removed it and are now re-installing?  Perhaps there were some table entries left behind after the uninstall and this is causing the error.

If you can give a little more background about your portal amd why you're installing the store module (and from where) we can try to help some more.

Hi Allan,

Many thanks for the reply. The installation I'm running (both dev. and live) is a 4.3.4 upgrade from 3.2.2. There was no trace of the Store module prior to installing it myself so I am wondering if the upgrade install package does not included the Store module for some reason?

I'm only using Install versions rather than Source versions.

If you have no store module in your module definitions, then I'd start by looking through the ModuleDefinitons table (assuming you have access to the DNN database) and deleting any entries that look like Store.

You'll probably have to delete other entries in other tables too (DesktopModules, etc) but you'll get referential integrity warnings when you try to delete data referenced by a foreign key.

Make sure you back everything up before you start deleting stuff though.

Hi Allan,

Thanks again for the reply. I think the problem is most likely connected to the fact that I have Efficion's Articles module installed and there's a clash in the area of categories. See the FAQ at:
