I'm trying to install or run DNN from a UNC file share but keep getting an error.

This is what I've done so far on 'Server1' - IIS6:

  •  I've create a custom Application Pool on Server1 and set the Identity to run under a domain account.
  • Added the domain account to the worker process group on Server1
  • Created a virtual folder on Server1 that connects to \\server2\share$
  • Assigned the 'custom Application Pool' to the virtual folder.
  • Ensured ASP.NET 2 is enabled for the virtual folder
  • given the domain account full control to the 'share'  and 'security' on the Server2 (unc server)
  • set the trust level to high in the web.config on Server1 (just to try and rule out permissions for now)
  • I've placed some custom aspx in the folder to confirm my worker process identity across the unc share (Environment.UserName )
  • Placed an aspx application in the UNC share (Server2) to read, and write a text file to the folder to ensure  the worker process has full permissions across the unc share. (so far it works)
  • Now when I try to install DNN 4.3.4 if get the following error which seems to indicate that its a permissions issue but cant work it out. If I configure IIS6 on the UNC server (Server2) and point it to the folder (c:\....) where I'm getting error from Server1 , it works fine without any problem.

Has anybody successfully installed DNN on a UNC share? We are planning to use it within a webfarm an point it to a central file store.

Our other 'simple' asp.net 2.0 applications work fine but not DNN.

Any help tackling this would be much appreciated. Thanks... here it the error I get
